Los Angeles-based 3D printing startup Elastium has partnered with LaLaLand Production & Design, California’s largest shoe manufacturer, to launch its first product, the Orca sneaker.
This collaboration introduces a new hybrid production model, called No-MMOQ (No Minimum or Maximum Order Quantities), which combines 3D printing with traditional mass manufacturing to revolutionise footwear production.
The Orca sneaker features Elastium's proprietary 3D printed foam, offering over 75% energy return and superior cushioning, bridging the gap between 3D printed shoes and traditional moulded designs.
The partnership aims to enhance traditional manufacturing by meeting the demand for localised, sustainable footwear production while addressing supply chain complexities and geopolitical risks.
